The george inn

The George

A seventeenth century pub (the only surviving galleried coaching inn in London) visited by Dickens

Now owned and leased by the National Trust, the history of The George is impressive. Even before the current building was completed in the 1670s there was an inn on the site. It was visited by Dickens (he mentions it in Little Dorrit). Sip a drink in the courtyard and it isn’t hard to imagine yourself into a London long gone.
